The name evolved because of the history of horses in the area,
and because most of the founders resided in the town
of Aurora. It was decided the organization be named, The East
Aurora Driving Society.
Membership is not limited to the East Aurora area or even
to Western New York. We have members from across New York
State, Canada, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Membership in the club is
open to anyone interested in advancing the “art and sport of
pleasure driving.”
Ownership of
a horse or
vehicle is
not required. All
members are encouraged to participate in the many club
activities and to serve on its various committees.
The Society offers clinics
to encourage the proper restoration of vehicles, promote “safe
driving” and further the skills of both beginner and advanced
drivers.
The annual East Aurora
Carriage Drive & Competition takes place on the last Saturday
and Sunday of July, on the Polo Field at the Knox Farm State
Park, drawing exhibitors from many states and Canada.
